Bears sign Tracy Porter to 1-year contract

The Chicago Bears have signed veteran cornerback Tracy Porter to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.

Porter was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons with the team. He also had brief stints with the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, and Washington Redskins.

The 28-year-old should have an opportunity to earn significant playing time in Chicago, as the Bears are somewhat thin at the cornerback position. Staying healthy will be key for Porter, though - he's played a full 16-game season just once.

In 68 career games, Porter has 287 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 2.5 sacks.
