Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ray McDonald's ex-fiancee said that McDonald engaged in a repeated pattern of violent behavior towards her.

McDonald was arrested on May 25 for domestic violence and child endangerment. Two days later, McDonald was arrested once again for violating terms of the restraining order put forth by his ex-fiancee. He posted a total of $20,000 bail for both incidents and is free on his own recognizance.

"I was ashamed to tell friends and family," McDonald's ex-fiancee said in the restraining order obtained by the San Jose Mercury News's Tracey Kaplan. "I hoped he would change. He changed some, but he began drinking again so I moved out."

Police were called to McDonald's residence on August 31 of last year, and he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Then a member of the San Francisco 49ers, the organization allowed due process to play out while he continued to suit up for club, recording 26 tackles and three sacks in 14 games.

However, the 49ers ran out of patience when McDonald was named as a suspect in a sexual assualt investigation, releasing him on December 17.

Chicago signed McDonald on March 24 with the tacit agreement that he avoid further incident. However, upon his arrest in May, the Bears released him immediately.

McDonald's attorney, Steve DeFilippis, did not respond to media inquiries.
