The Washington Redskins have parted ways with veteran guard Chris Chester, the team announced.
Chester, a second-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens, has started 64 consecutive games for the Redskins since signing with the team in 2011.
The 32-year-old had a base salary of $3.5 million in 2015, the final year of his current deal. Releasing him will save the Redskins $4 million against the cap.
2014 third-round pick Spencer Long appears to be the likely candidate to take over for Chester at right guard.
