Senator Harry Reid, the Democratic minority leader, issued a scathing critique of the NFL's priorities on his Twitter feed Tuesday:
I find it stunning that the NFL cares more about how much air is in a football than it cares about a racist franchise name.

Reid has been a vocal opponent of the Washington Redskins name for more than a year now, pledging not to attend a home game until the moniker is dropped. Reid recently said team owner Dan Snyder will be on "the losing side of history" when all is said and done.
The Redskins name was a hot topic last offseason, but the issue has been pushed to the back burner in recent months as player misconduct and the "Deflategate" scandal grabbed headlines.
