Roger Goodell apologized to Marcus Mariota for mispronouncing his name

It didn't take long for Roger Goodell to mispronounce someone's name at the 2015 NFL Draft. 

The smart money was on Owamagbe Odighizuwa, but Goodell was shockingly tripped up by second-overall pick Marcus Mariota, a name that isn't overly complicated and should have been well-rehearsed. 

Nevertheless, Goodell felt bad about calling the newest Tennessee Titans quarterback "Marcus Marioto," and apologized shortly after. Mariota told 104.5 The Zone in Nashville on Monday he appreciated the commissioner's apology. 

"Everyone was cheering so loud that I wasn’t able to actually hear it," Mariota said as transcribed by ESPN. "He gave me a call probably half an hour later. He apologized, and I’m like, ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about.’ But he was really apologetic and I truly respect that for sure."

Goodell made up for it, though. He flawlessly pronounced Leonard Williams' name just four picks later.
