Packers add to defensive backfield, select Damarious Randall

The Green Bay Packers have selected defensive back Damarious Randall out of Arizona State with the 30th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Randall was considered one of the top safety prospects in this year's class, but according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers drafted him to play cornerback.
While making such a move at the end of the first round - including a position change - comes as a surprise, the Packers may be onto something given Randall's proven ability in coverage and relative lack of size at safety.
Should the Arizona State standout be able to earn a contributing role as a rookie, replacing free-agent departure Tramon Williams opposite Sam Shields, the Packers may again have an opportunity to field one of the NFL's top pass defenses.

- Possesses excellent recovery speed and often tracks down ball carriers from behind.
Weaknesses
- Always looking for the big hit and will overrun routes as a result.
- Undersized for an NFL safety. May be overwhelmed by more physical wide receivers.
- Relies on athleticism to overcome poor technique, may be exposed by perceptive wide receivers and tight ends.
