The New Orleans Saints have officially named Jeff Ireland assistant general manager, general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed to ESPN's Mike Triplett.
Ireland was hired by the Saints on Jan. 20, and was expected to take on a large role in the team's college scouting department.
Prior to joining the Saints, Ireland worked as a draft consultant for the Seattle Seahawks, but is most famous for his role as the Miami Dolphins general manager from 2008-13.
Ireland, along with Saints pro scouting director Terry Fotenot, is subordinate to Loomis.
