Gun charge against Chris Johnson dropped
Former New York Jets running back Chris Johnson had a misdemeanor gun charge against him dropped, Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reports.
Johnson posted a message on Instagram on Wednesday night stating that the case was dismissed and there was no evidence of him doing anything wrong.
Johnson was arrested Jan. 9 in his hometown of Orlando, Fla. after a police officer noticed he failed to stop at a stop sign and noticed two guns in his vehicle. Johnson has a licence to carry the weapons in Florida, but was charged with the unrelated offense of open carrying/firearms. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and court records show that his Feb. 10 hearing was canceled.
The 29-year-old was shot in the shoulder early Sunday in an unrelated incident. He was released from an Orlando hospital Monday and is expected to make a quick and full recovery.
