Report: Giants plan to use franchise tag on Jason Pierre-Paul

The New York Giants will use the franchise tag on defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul if they don't reach an agreement on a long-term deal before Monday's deadline, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Neither side is confident a long-term deal will be worked out before March 2 and Pierre-Paul's camp is preparing to be tagged, Schefter's colleague Dan Graziano reports.
Pierre-Paul racked up a team-high 12.5 sacks and 77 tackles in 2014, but has struggled with consistency. Tagging him would give the Giants another year to evaluate him and decide whether they want to commit to him long-term.
