Tennessee Titans CEO Tommy Smith says he hasn't spoken to parties interested in buying his team and will not do so, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.

Smith made the comments in response to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, who tweeted Monday he continues to hear rumblings the Titans could be for sale.

Smith, who took over the team after the death of his father-in-law Bud Adams, called La Canfora's report "totally irresponsible."

"The team is not for sale. We are not entertaining any conversations in regard to the sale of the team. Period,'' Smith said. "Any statements that say so are completely off base, and I resent it. It is not helpful to what we are trying to accomplish as an organization and as a family."
