Report: Broncos finalizing 4-year contract to hire Gary Kubiak as head coach
The Denver Broncos are closing in on a four-year deal to hire Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak as their next head coach, according to the Denver Post's Mike Klis.
Although Kubiak originally said that he intended to remain with the Ravens and would not pursue a head-coaching position, the opportunity to take a lead job with a team he previously spent time with both as a player and as a coach was evidently too good to pass up.
Kubiak spent eight seasons as the Houston Texans' head coach from 2006 to 2013, accumulating a 61-64 record and helping the franchise to its only two playoff appearances.
His tenure came to a disappointing end amidst a 2-14 season in 2013, but he caught on with the Ravens and quickly re-established himself with a highly successful year as their offensive coordinator.
