NFL investigating whether texts were sent to Browns' sideline

The NFL is investigating whether text messages were sent to the Cleveland Browns' sideline during games, league spokesman Michael Signora told Pat McManamon of ESPN.com.
Signora did not elaborate on the matter, but McManamon reports that a team source said the messages pertained to personnel decisions and play calls.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday that the texts played a role in former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's decision to part ways with the Browns and that some coaches became upset after a high-ranking personnel member interfered with their decisions.
NFL rules prohibit electronic communication during games.
