Jets GM John Idzik on Percy Harvin trade: 'This could be a potential coup'
The New York Jets held a press conference Monday introducing their newest acquisition, wide receiver Percy Harvin.
Jets general manager John Idzik fielded questions from reporters about the former Seattle Seahawks star. Idzik revealed that Harvin will wear number 16 for the Jets.
"This could be a potential coup for the Jets," Idzik said. "I think we have some weapons. We're developing weapons."
New York has lost its last six games and are in the basement of the AFC East.
"I don't think it's too late," Idzik said. "We’re developing as an offense. We’re developing around (Jets quarterback Smith) Geno. Geno is too. So Percy will help in that regard."
"If there’s a chance for us to improve our team, no matter what time of year it is … we’re going to do it."
Regardless, the Jets have major ground to make up if they are to catch the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in their division.
Harvin's exit from Seattle was reportedly due to his diva-like behavior, starting fights with Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin during his tenure with the Seahawks.
Idzik was sure to address all behavioral concerns Monday.

"You really don’t know until he gets immersed into the Jets culture, but we have a very positive outlook for Percy Harvin.
"It’s really immersing him into what it is to act like a Jet, be a Jet, play like a Jet."
"We have a real healthy environment for Percy Harvin."
Harvin's upper-echelon speed and versatility will be an asset for the Jets. However, many NFL insiders were surprised that the struggling team would acquire Harvin at this juncture of the season.
The enigmatic playmaker will likely make his Jets debut against the Bills on Sunday.
