Rex Ryan: Jets' season 'a big failure'
After a 27-25 loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday night, the New York Jets now sit at 1-6 and are in danger of letting their season completely slip away.
Head coach Rex Ryan is understandably frustrated with the way things have played out thus far and was not shy about describing the disappointment Friday.
"It's been a big failure," he said, according to ESPN. "The season's not over, but you don't want to be 1-6. If you asked me, I'd be thinking we'd be the other way."
While the Jets' struggles have seen questions emerge about Ryan's job status moving forward, he insists that he's not worried about it and is instead focused on the team.
" ... This is a win business – I understand that, there's no doubt but this is about the team. The team has always been the priority. The priority has never been my future."
The Jets will have an opportunity to turn things around in the coming weeks after what has been a brutal six-game stretch, but their season is certainly headed in the wrong direction at this point.
If the disappointing level of play continues through a much more favorable part of the schedule down the stretch, Jets ownership may have no choice but to make significant changes heading into next year.
