Eagles' McCoy leaves game vs. Redskins; examined for head injury
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was removed from Sunday's game after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit in the first quarter against the Washington Redskins.
The Eagles announced McCoy is being examined for a head injury, but provided no other details.
McCoy suffered the apparent injury after making direct contact with Redskins cornerback David Amerson's helmet during a nine-yard run with under two minutes to play in the quarter.
Cameras captured McCoy pleading with team doctors on the sideline to stay in the game after Eagles officials had security take his helmet from him. McCoy was previously diagnosed with a concussion during a game against the Redskins in 2012.
