The initial diagnosis for San Francisco 49ers running back LaMichael James is in and, though it isn't of the season-ending variety, it isn't good:
James is expected to miss at least a month of training camp as he recovers.
With James joining Kendall Hunter on the sidelines, the 49ers suddenly have a big need a running back behind starter Frank Gore and second-round pick Carlos Hyde. If Marcus Lattimore can get healthy, he could see a lot of reps.
Regardless of Lattimore's health, look for the 49ers to either sign or trade for at least one tailback.
