James Ihedigbo on Lions: 'We definitely have that championship DNA'

The Detroit Lions signed free agent safety James Ihedigbo in March, and he's already thinking about the future involving a Super Bowl.

Mlive's Justin Rogers spoke to Ihedigbo about his upcoming season in Detroit and he didn't hold back.

It's one of those things, you can feel it. With this team, I can feel the makings of a championship-DNA team. Are we willing to sacrifice? That's the question, and I know we are. There are guys in this locker room that are willing to pay the price, whatever it is, to put the work in to be a champion. Yeah, we definitely have that championship DNA.

Ihedigbo also noted head coach Jim Caldwell has instilled a "championship level of thinking" around the team which helps the player's confidence.

Caldwell told reporters, "I told them rather than a wait-and-see sort of format, we're going to put them in that mood right now, right away, and make them work for it. But nevertheless, we're going to put them on a championship path."
