The Green Bay Packers made upgrading their secondary via the draft a priority, selecting former Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with the 21st pick in the first round Thursday.

The Pack are thin at safety and many felt Clinton-Dix wouldn't survive this far down in the first round, so Green Bay was wise to pounce.

Clinton-Dix is perhaps the most well-rounded safety to enter the draft in recent memory. The first-team All-SEC selection played 11 of 13 games for the Crimson Tide in 2013 (a team suspension related to a loan he accepted from a coach cost him two games), drawing nine starts.

In 2012, Clinton-Dix tied for the SEC lead with five interceptions. He picked off passes in both the SEC Championship versus Georgia and the BCS National Championship against Notre Dame.
