Former NFL RB Derrick Ward rants about DeSean Jackson and gang ties

Thomas Campbell / US PRESSWIRE

Former NFL running back Derrick Ward was born in Los Angeles, and he knows more than a little about gang life.

Ward also has more than a few opinions about the NFL media's reaction to the story that the Philadelphia Eagles released wide receiver DeSean Jackson on Friday because of fears of his gang ties. And he unleashed those opinions Friday.

Ward's entire rant is up on his Twitter page and it's well worth reading. Along the way, Ward calls out ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski, as well as former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik and former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi. He also argues that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly must know about gangs because, while Kelly was the head coach of Oregon, he recruited players from a high school where many players had gang affiliations.
