The Buffalo Bills added some backfield depth on Friday, signing San Francisco 49ers running back Anthony Dixon.

Dixon has been little used during his four years with the Niners, playing behind the likes of Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. He was a sixth-round pick of San Fran in 2010 and has never missed a game in his career. He has 148 career carries for 458 yards and eight touchdowns in 64 games.
Dixon has also been a mainstay on the 49ers special teams, collecting 28 tackles. He will turn 27 in September and while he's not likely to cut too much into the workload of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, he provides a big body that can be used as a short-yardage and goal-line back.
