Rashard Mendenhall hints at retirement in cryptic blog post
The Huffington Post published a mysterious blog post written by Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall on Tuesday that suggests the impending free agent may be ready to retire.
The story describes the spiritual awakening Mendenhall experienced while recovering from a torn ACL two years ago, and culminates with these three lines:
"The journey I envisioned is the two years of rebuilding that would follow. And as I write this, today is the day that the journey is over and I am fully at peace. Eagerly looking to a new way, which lies ahead."
Given the nature of the story, it's very possible -- as Josh Sanchez of FanSided.com suggests -- that the journey Mendenhall is referring to is his road to recovery. He is, after all, only 26.
Mendenhall has yet to elaborate on the post, as he's busy gathering other people's thoughts on it:
