Texas A&M WR Evans: Manziel's 'far from a prima donna'

Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans knows Johnny Manziel.

Over the past two seasons at College Station, the two have shared living space, engaged in a few dunk-offs, and combined for the better part of Evans' 2,499 receiving yards.

They also declared for the NFL draft together.

While his receiving exploits and subsequent draft relevance may have Evans viewing Manziel through rose-colored glasses, there's no questioning the fact that he holds the quarterback in high regard.

“He’s far from a prima donna,” Evans told Brent Sobleski of USA TODAY. “He likes to come in and work and get the job done just like everyone else. I’d go to war with him. I’d take him over anybody."

His diminutive frame has many pundits wary of how the former Heisman trophy winner will fare in the professional ranks, but Evans agrees with Manziel - he's the best player available in draft.

“He should be the clear-cut No. 1 pick, especially for the Texans,” Evans said. “He may just be the quarterback they’re looking for. He’s the best talent available.”

While Evans' endorsement is laden with bias, at least there's an NFL player out there ready to assume an awesome roomie - wherever he calls home.
