Former QB Sanchez in stable condition after being stabbed
Former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports broadcaster Mark Sanchez is in stable condition and recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in Indianapolis on Saturday, Fox Sports confirmed in a statement.
The 38-year-old was in Indianapolis as part of the broadcast crew for Sunday's contest between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium. Sanchez will no longer work the game, according to Fox.
The Indianapolis Metro Police Department said a stabbing occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Police said two adult men were involved and did not identify them. One person received lacerations while the other individual sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds, according to the police statement.
"Detectives believe this was an isolated incident between two men and not a random act of violence," the statement added.
Sanchez has been with Fox Sports since 2021. He spent 10 years in the NFL, most notably with the New York Jets. Sanchez was drafted fifth overall by the Jets in 2009, leading the team to the AFC Championship Game in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
