Report: Panthers' Hubbard out vs. Dolphins, week-to-week with calf injury
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard won't play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins due to a calf injury, sources told The Athletic's Joe Person.
Hubbard is considered week-to-week, and the Panthers aren't expected to place the rusher on injured reserve, Person adds.
The 26-year-old didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday leading up to Sunday's contest. He was a limited participant in two sessions last week before playing a season-low 50.7% of Carolina's offensive snaps in their Week 4 loss to the New England Patriots.
Head coach Dave Canales told reporters that Hubbard's injury is worse now than it was before last week's contest.
Hubbard leads the Panthers in carries (53) and rushing yards (217) through four games. Rico Dowdle, whom the Panthers signed to a one-year deal this offseason after he spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to make his first start of the 2025 campaign with Hubbard sidelined.
Carolina is 1-3 heading into Sunday's clash with the Dolphins.
