The Dallas Cowboys signed three-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, team owner Jerry Jones told reporters Sunday, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota.

The addition of Clowney should strengthen a Cowboys defense that lost star edge rusher Micah Parsons to a preseason trade. Clowney is familiar with the Cowboys, having visited the franchise Wednesday.

Dallas has recorded only three sacks in the two games since trading Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. The 1-1 Cowboys, who beat the New York Giants 40-37 on Sunday, have allowed 61 points through Week 2.

Clowney, a former first overall pick, has registered 58 sacks over his career, including four seasons with at least nine sacks each. The 32-year-old spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, putting up 5.5 sacks.
