Panthers' Newton fined $10K for wrong visor clips
It seems the NFL will find any reason to fine a player. We've already seen guys docked money for wearing the wrong color socks, and now Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been fined $10,000 for illegal clips.
No, not the kind the result in a clipping penalty, but the kind used to keep your visor attached to your helmet. The Charlotte Observer reports Newton has been wearing Under Armor visor clips for most, if not all of his career.
However, the league has an apparel deal with Nike and part of the deal requires players to wear Nike visor clips. Newton endorses Under Armour and is allowed to wear their gloves and cleats, but apparently the visor clips are a no-no.
