Allen (hamstring) returned to preseason action Thursday, rushing 10 times for 39 yards.

Allen missed two preseason games on account of the injury, allowing undrafted rookie Michael Ford to get an extended look as the Bears' third running back. Though Ford has shown some promise throughout training camp, Allen is superior in pass protection and coverage units and special teams, which may be enough for him to solidify his roster spot.
