The Denver Broncos selected Iowa cornerback Riley Moss in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 83rd overall.

Denver obtained pick No. 83 from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for two draft selections, including its third-rounder in 2024.

The Broncos boast one of the NFL's most talented secondaries, with safety Justin Simmons and cornerback Pat Surtain II.

Moss brings plenty of experience and versatility to Denver after playing five years at Iowa and logging snaps as both cornerback and safety. The 23-year-old registered 158 career tackles, 26 pass breakups, and 11 interceptions with the Hawkeyes.

Pre-draft profile

Moss is unlikely to ever be a consistent NFL starter, but he could be a really effective backup for zone-heavy teams. The former Hawkeye can provide decent coverage skills and solid tackling to whichever team picks him up, but he lacks elite tools to be counted on as a starter. They aren't necessarily bad tools, but players with the combination of 4.45 speed and short arms don't typically start at the next level. Where the Iowa product could find a role is down near the red zone, where he can use his solid size, leaping ability, and tackling prowess to contribute. Moss projects to be a solid backup, but he's also got special teams experience and skills to contribute in the game's third phase.
