The Green Bay Packers activated star cornerback Jaire Alexander from injured reserve Wednesday, the team announced.

It's still unclear whether Alexander - who hasn't played since Week 4 due to a shoulder injury - will be available to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Wednesday was the deadline for Green Bay to move the Pro Bowl defender to the active roster after assigning him to return to practice on Dec. 8.

Alexander's return would be a big boost to the Packers' secondary, which is coming off a four-interception performance against Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns.

Alexander has quickly established himself as one of the NFL's top corners since Green Bay drafted him 18th overall in 2018. The 24-year-old has averaged 62 tackles, 15 pass breakups, and two interceptions per 16 games played throughout his career.
