NFL approves use of alternate helmets starting in 2022
The NFL will allow teams to use two different helmets beginning in the 2022 season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
In a memo sent Thursday, the league said teams can pair the second helmet with alternate, throwback, or color rush uniforms.
The NFL previously stopped the use of alternate helmets due to player safety concerns.
