The Kansas City Chiefs now own the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs after their 31-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and the New England Patriots' loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins secured the 27-24 upset victory on a late Ryan Fitzpatrick touchdown pass.

The Chiefs own the tiebreaker over the Patriots on the strength of their head-to-head win in Week 14 and have earned a bye in the first week of the postseason.

The Patriots will play on Wild Card Weekend for the first time since 2009.

Here's how the AFC bracket looks:

Seed Team Division Record
1 Ravens (z) North 13-2
2 Chiefs (z) West 12-4
3 Patriots (y) East 12-4
4 Texans (y) South 10-5
5 Bills (x) East 10-6
6 Titans (x) South 9-7

The Baltimore Ravens and Chiefs will get a week off. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round, and the Patriots welcome the Tennessee Titans.
