Akers actually missed on a 39-yard attempt late in the third quarter, but a Baltimore penalty gave him another opportunity from five yards closer. After opening the season with a record-tying 63-yard field goal, he spent most of the season struggling with his accuracy. He finished the regular season just 29-for-42 on field goals, including 10 misses out of 19 chances from 40 yards or more. However, he was 4-for-5 during the playoffs. Considering the situation got so bad that the team brought in Billy Cundiff as insurance during the playoffs, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team make a change this offseason, despite still being on the hook for $3 million owed to him in 2013. The situation should be monitored heading into camp next season.
