Disappointed Calvin Ridley insists he's better than his combine scores
Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley doesn't think his performance at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine this past weekend is an accurate reflection of what he has to offer.
The 23-year-old still considers himself the best receiver prospect in the draft, despite failing to impress in several combine drills.
"I don't get into a receiver stance and broad jump before I run a route. Whoever gets me is getting a great player," Ridley told NFL Network at Alabama's Pro Day on Wednesday, according to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com.
"... I know I can beat all those scores by a lot, but (in training) I was trying to get ready for my 40, which I was upset about, too. I didn't have a great combine, not like I wanted to. I should've gone in there and just run the 40 and run routes, and done all the other stuff here (at pro day)."
Ridley ran the 40 in 4.43 seconds, did 15 reps of the bench press, and jumped 110.0 inches in the broad jump at the combine.
He didn't participate in athletic testing at the Crimson Tide's pro day workouts in Tuscaloosa, according to Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report. Instead, he worked on position drills, running scripted set plays, and displaying his top skill of precise route running.
