Report: Bears to interview Vikings DC George Edwards
The Chicago Bears are looking elsewhere in the NFC North as they search for their next head coach.
The team is set to interview Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards, a source told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.
The interview will take place Thursday, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson.
Edwards, who is on the Fritz Pollard Alliance's list of recommended head coaching candidates, will be participating in his first interview for such a position.
"The league feels that he's done a great job and is very deserving at being ready to go for anything that opens up this year," Fritz Pollard Alliance chairman John Wooten said in December.
The Vikings' defense finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in both points and yards allowed.
Edwards is the second Vikings coordinator that the Bears are targeting.
Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is also scheduled to interview for the head coaching role Friday, reports Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.
The Bears fired John Fox on Monday.
