Was Lynch trying to help teammates or defend Peters before ejection?

Kelley L Cox / USA TODAY Sports

Marshawn Lynch's ejection from Thursday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs came with plenty of controversy.

The Oakland Raiders running back left the sidelines to get involved in a skirmish and ended up with his hands on an official, earning himself an automatic ejection.

The altercation occurred when Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters hit quarterback Derek Carr late in the play, which drew an unnecessary roughness penalty as well as most of the Raiders' offensive line.

Lynch saw the conflict happening and left the sidelines in a hurry, but seemed to be hoping to break things up.

Though Lynch is known as a loyal teammate who loves the Raiders, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to be going after Peters, who is the running back's cousin.

The 31-year-old has been known to be very passionate about his teammates, his community, and his family. Which caused him to briefly lose his head this time?
