Giants' Rodgers-Cromartie: 'What I did was wrong'

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said Wednesday he didn't have any reservations about returning to the New York Giants following his one-game suspension.

The cornerback told Art Stapleton of USA TODAY Sports he had no doubts the team would welcome him back.

"Oh no, no, no, no, no, no," Rodgers-Cromartie said. "One thing about this locker room, when I come in here, man, I light it up. You know what I mean? I'm an animated guy. I'm not saying that I can't be replaced, but, you know - still, what I did was wrong, and I admit that - as long as I admit that and I didn't run from it, you know, I'm good."

Rodgers-Cromartie was first told he would be inactive for last week's game against the Denver Broncos for violating team rules, and he then walked out of the team facility prior to a practice. Head coach Ben McAdoo promptly suspended him indefinitely - a decision Rodgers-Cromartie ultimately came to respect.

"Definitely," Rodgers-Cromartie said. "I told him I messed up and I understand that and as a coach, you got to do what you got to do, whatever the consequence is I have to accept that and go on from there.''

McAdoo appears to have no hard feelings over the incident either, and was excited to have the two-time Pro Bowler return.

"It’s great to have DRC back," McAdoo said. "Had a lot of energy. Welcomed him back with open arms. ... Glad to have him back."

After winning their first game of the season against Denver, the Giants will look for another this Sunday when they host the Seattle Seahawks.
