San Francisco 49ers rookie linebacker Reuben Foster has been declared out for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR 680, according to Cam Inman of the Mercury News.
Foster was carted off the field in the season opener - his first career game - with a high ankle sprain and hasn't played since.
Shanahan added that Foster and safety Eric Reid, who is out with a knee injury, could both practice next week and return to game action in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.
Ray-Ray Armstrong has stepped into the starting lineup in Foster's absence.
