O.J. Simpson's parole hearing certainly got off to a bizarre start Thursday, with his football career being invoked without prompt.

A member of the parole board wore a Kansas City Chiefs tie to the hearing, and appeared quite happy about his wardrobe.

The Chiefs also appeared sufficiently impressed:

It's certainly an odd choice, considering Simpson first came to fame as a member of the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.

If granted parole, Simpson will be released from jail Oct. 1.
