Running back Christian McCaffrey made his debut at Carolina Panthers minicamp Thursday, the final day of practice before the team breaks for the summer.
A somewhat bizarre NFL rule prevented McCaffrey from practicing any earlier. Stanford, where McCaffrey attended college, is a quarter-system school and NFL rookies are prohibited from joining their teams until their school's final exams are over, a milestone Stanford only hit on Wednesday.
The good news is that the rule doesn't apply to rookie minicamps and McCaffrey was permitted to practice with the Panthers for a few days following the NFL draft. He's probably behind the curve a bit, but it could be much worse.
