Romo's locker remains vacant at Cowboys' facility

Tony Romo has moved on, but the Dallas Cowboys aren't turning the page as quickly.

The franchise's longtime quarterback opted to hang up his cleats and enter a career in broadcasting this offseason, ending his playing days for the time being. However, his locker remains vacant at the Cowboys' practice facility and no one is wearing No. 9 during OTAs, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.

The gesture could be interpreted as a tribute to Romo, a Cowboy for 14 seasons. It's more likely, however, that the Cowboys have yet to eliminate Romo's presence at the facility because he's yet to officially file for retirement.

There will also be parties who will suggest the Cowboys are keeping the door open for Romo's return should he decide to play again during the 2017 season.
