Peyton Manning to host 2017 ESPYS
An all-time great quarterback will be the master of ceremonies at the premier sports awards event this summer.
Peyton Manning has been tabbed as the host for the 25th annual ESPYS, set to air July 12th, ESPN announced in a release Tuesday.
"The ESPYS have been a part of my life during my entire career - I can still remember attending my very first show back in 1998 before my rookie season in the NFL," Manning said.
"Over the years, The ESPYS have celebrated some of my favorite athletes and sports moments. In addition to recognizing a special year in sports, the 25th ESPYS will allow us to go down memory lane and pay tribute to those who have played such a huge part in this program’s success."
One of the world's most recognizable athletes and a charismatic presence who's brought humor to his countless television appearances, Manning seems like a logical choice to host the milestone event.
The 41-year-old played 18 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, earning 14 Pro Bowl appearances before retiring in a fashion many athletes can only dream of.
Manning capped off his Hall of Fame career by walking into the sunset with a second Super Bowl title after helping guide the Broncos to a win over the Carolina Panthers.
