The story of the Chicago Bears' 2017 draft will be written largely by Mitchell Trubisky, but a trio of small-school players will play at least a small part in the narrative.

The Bears selected three players from non-FBS programs in the draft, a rarity in an era when most NFL teams want to see their prospects play against top competition.

It's the first time since 2002 the Bears have taken three non-FBS players, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

It started in Round 2 with the selection of Ashland University tight end Adam Shaheen. He's the highest-ever draft pick from Ashland by a mile - Jeris Pendleton was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round in 2012.

Running back Tarik Cohen, selected in Round 4 from little-known FCS school North Carolina A&T, was next.

The Bears' final draft pick, a Round 5 selection, was used on Kutztown guard Jordan Morgan. If you've heard of him, you should probably work for an NFL team.
