Report: Redskins trying to trade Matt Jones
Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports
The Washington Redskins are shopping third-year running back Matt Jones, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Jones has shown flashes of promise over his first two seasons in the league, but the Redskins are likely looking to take advantage of a deep running back class, adds Rapoport.
With Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson, Mack Brown, and the potential incoming rookie crowding the Redskins' backfield, Jones was always likely to be the odd man out.
Jones was benched midway through last season, partly due to his eight fumbles on 243 carries. However, some team will likely view him as a cheap option if they miss out on the second tier of running back prospects on Day 2.
