49ers' Lynch pumped for 1st draft as GM: 'Let's do this already!'
For most of the NFL world, the draft is like an early Christmas - the culmination of nearly a year's worth of preparation and hype.
New San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is no exception:
Advice from all my new GM friends? "Get some rest, it's a marathon." Yea right! I've been up since 3:30 AM. Let's do this already!
— John Lynch (@JohnLynch49ers) April 27, 2017
Lynch - who was hired this offseason, and has zero previous front-office experience - won't have to wait long to make his first pick, as the 49ers hold the No. 2 overall selection.
Who he might pick, however, remains a mystery.
If the Cleveland Browns take Myles Garrett at No. 1, Lynch's first major decision as GM will be between reaching for a quarterback, taking the next best defensive player, or organizing a trade down - likely with a team who has eyes on Mitchell Trubisky.
Whatever Lynch decides, it'll be the first major step in the 49ers' rebuilding process. No wonder he can't sleep.
