Report: Jets to host Chase Daniel on free-agent visit

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets will host former Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Chase Daniel on a free-agent visit Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Jets' search for a new starting passer continues, with the team wrapping up a visit with veteran Josh McCown over the weekend without reaching a deal.

Daniel has said he believes he can start in the NFL and requested his release from the Eagles. The Jets are probably Daniel's best chance of starting, though it might be only as a placeholder until a young quarterback (perhaps one drafted in the early rounds of this spring's draft) takes over.

Daniel has completed 51-of-78 pass attempts over his eight-year NFL career with a 65.4 percent completion percentage, one touchdown, and one interception.
