Report: Redskins sign D.J. Swearinger to 3-year, $13.5M contract

Swearinger receives a three-year deal worth $13.5 million for heading to the nation's capital, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
After struggling to live up to expectations while starting his career with the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former second-round pick found a home with the Arizona Cardinals in 2015.
The 25-year-old put himself in line for a multi-year payday with a career-best performance in 2016, tallying 66 tackles, three interceptions, and two sacks across 12 starts and 16 games.
Swearinger should slot in as the starting strong safety for a Redskins defense looking to improve on its No. 28 rank from last season.
