The story of New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler could be headed to the big screen.

The rights to Butler's life story have been acquired by Narrative Capital, according to Tatiana Siegel of The Hollywood Reporter.

Narrative Capital helped produce the 2016 film "Lion," which received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

The planned biopic is called "The Secondary."

Butler's story is unique among NFL stars. He didn't join the league as a highly touted draft pick, and instead ran the deep fryer at a Popeyes before earning a workout with the Patriots. He made the team, but remained a relative unknown until his interception of a Russell Wilson pass sealed the Patriots' win in Super Bowl XLIX.
