Report: Kelce fined for ripping referee after divisional-round loss
Unsurprisingly, outspoken Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been fined for his criticisms of the referees during the team's divisional playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reports, citing a source.
Kelce criticized referee Carl Cheffers for a holding call on a two-point conversion that would have tied the score in the waning minutes of the game. After the game, Kelce said Cheffers "shouldn't be able to wear a zebra jersey ever again. He shouldn't even be able to work at f---ing Foot Locker."
As for Cheffers, he will reportedly referee Super Bowl LI.
The amount Kelce was fined has yet to be determined, but Florio believes it will be around $12,500. ProFootballTalk also confirmed Kelce was fined an additional $9,115 for drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty when he pushed a Steelers defender to the ground.
