While New York Jets second-round quarterback Christian Hackenberg didn't see any playing time in his first regular season, his team has reportedly already seen enough.
One starter for the Jets gave a less than impressive review of Hackenberg to New York Daily News' Manish Mehta when asked if he thought the rookie quarterback was worth a second-round pick, rolling his eyes and simply stating "no".
Another team source told Mehta that Hackenberg "will never make it ... never."
A recent report from ESPN said that the quarterback "couldn't throw the ball into the ocean" and got a rather light response from Jets owner Woody Johnson.
"I guess it depends which ocean," Johnson joked on Thursday. "Maybe it was a small ocean."
Reports from local media covering the Jets who have watched Hackenberg practice have not been complimentary, regularly citing under- and overthrown passes. General manager Mike Maccagnan is trying to maintain hope that Hackenberg can improve this offseason, but admitted "all options are on the table."
