Giants' Cruz participating in minicamp
Victor Cruz is taking steps in his efforts to bounce back from a 2015 campaign lost entirely to injury.
After sitting out all previous offseason workouts, the veteran wide receiver was participating in individual drills when the New York Giants kicked off a mandatory three-day minicamp Tuesday.
Cruz - who dealt with calf issues last year after recovering from a torn patellar tendon suffered the season prior - suggested over the weekend a minicamp appearance was possible.
The Giants will almost certainly bring him along slowly, but the progress remains a promising development.
Along with Odell Beckham Jr. and second-round pick Sterling Shepard, Cruz returning to a primary role would give New York a dynamic trio of receivers.
The former undrafted free agent was a reliable contributor for the three seasons prior to the knee injury, racking up 214 receptions for 3,626 yards and 23 touchdowns.
